Student Services

Home Placement is available to all students in our ESL program and High School Program. A minimum of two weeks notice is required by the Home Placement Staff to find an appropriate host family. Students will receive the name, address, phone number and email address of their host via airmail or email before they arrive in Toronto. We ask students to write a letter introducing themselves to their host family and to send them their flight schedule and arrival date. Flight numbers and arrival time at Toronto airport from their home country should be included.

Students in home placement should arrive the day before the program begins and leave the day after the program ends. Extensions can be discussed with the host family in Toronto. For detailed home placement application, arrival and departure dates, please contact us.

Homestay accommodation offers you the opportunity to learn about Canadian culture and its customs and values in a secure and friendly environment. By living with a Canadian family you will improve your English and get a thorough understanding of Canadian life. Moreover, your host family is a priceless source of information about the new environment. Homestay is suitable for stays ranging from a few weeks to many months and it is competitively priced compared with other accommodation options.

Homestay in a native-speaking household gives international students a more protected environment, a quicker way to learn about North American culture, and an out-of-school method to improve their English communication skills.

Our families enjoy hosting and are eager to welcome guests into their home. They have been carefully selected before they are permitted to host. English is always the primary language of the home, so you will be able to practice and improve your language skills.

Homestay provides you with:

  • Three meals a day, seven days per week
  • Shared laundry facilities with the host family
  • Shared kitchen and living area
  • A private or shared bathroom
  • Single room accommodation that includes mattress, bed, desk and luggage storage facilities
  • 24-hour emergency contact
  • Local activities with host family

All your utilities costs are covered, except for telephone and internet (Some host families may provide telephone or internet for free)

Homestay Placement fee: CDN$200.00 (one time charge). The costs below are approximate and will vary on student.

All students in home placement will be met at the Toronto International Airport, by school staff or their host family. Students must advise Birmingham of their arrival times and flight numbers. All other students must arrange for their own transportation upon arrival in Toronto. For detailed information on how to get to our school, please contact us by phone or email.

As soon as new, international students arrive at our College, we will make arrangements for them to set up their first bank account in Canada. There are four major Canada banks located within walking distance of our school.

We will also help students arrange for their purchase of medical insurance coverage, within a week of their arrival. We are always willing to be the first stop for help, if international students experience problems or issues with their bank or insurance company.
